Great content. As you rightly pointed out, it takes time to rank on Google Search.

However, in my experience, I find that I have been able to rank several articles on page one within days and weeks. And some remain there for years.

For instance, I was able to rank my article on the #1 spot of Google Page One for the keyword “car sticker marketing” within 8 days. It’s over 2 years and the article is still on page one. Was recently updated in February by the host site.

I have another page 1er for the keyword “cross border dropshipping”, been there since 2017

I’ve had same success with several other articles with some ranking within 3 days and weeks and staying put years after, not to mention some featured snippets spots.

Glad you liked it Dylan. Your point makes sense in terms of sticking with it” in a line of content focus. BUT, one thing to note is that above what we are saying is: if you focus first on “buying” keywords (what we call BOTF keywords), those, by definition, should be related to your product and thus your entire site and therefore, you should already have topical authority so you should see good results regardless. (But yes, our data above also says you’ll prob need to wait 5ish months to see first page rankings, even for those topically relevant keywords)

I think it’s so valuable to share this type of data so clients can get a sense of reality around what it takes to rank over the longer term.

Your point around topical relevance is the big takeaway for me personally because I think it ties into the importance of consistency and clarity of focus. Too often I see a company try one content focus and proposition, get weak results, then hop to a new focus, then another, and another – often only after a few months.

What your data shows is that some of these firms would probably have had success, but they leaped just that little bit too soon.
