Introducing our foundational process

Pain Point SEO

We first published Pain Point SEO in 2018. In the blog post, we argued that the typical approach to content marketing -going after top of the funnel keywords, and producing introductory content like fluffy list posts and introductory guides does not generate many leads from content. We then argued that companies were better off going after bottom of funnel keywords with really high buying intent, which generate a lot more leads, then working their way from the bottom of the funnel, to the top of the funnel is a better approach (the opposite approach that most businesses take).

We published real client data backing this up.

In the years since, we’ve seen Pain Point SEO grow in popularity. We’ve seen it mentioned in podcasts, articles, and all kinds of social posts. We’re excited to see the SEO/content marketing community embrace this more data-driven, lead-generation focused approach to content marketing.
